Abstract: Data has revealedthat affluent individuals are relocating to low-income minority communities to be closer to work and other popular services not offered in the suburbs. With the opening of this new opportunity, investors, developers, and business leaders have intensifiedinvestment and development in low-income minority communities. Given these new expansions in low-income minority communities, studies indicate emerging issues that have included organizations and leadership receiving resistance from communities’ low-income residents and local businesses are arising. This study analyzes the effect of issue briefs on the gentrification process. An issue brief is critical in helping stakeholders understand how an emerging issue could affect an organization and how leadership should address the issue.Issue briefs introduce emerging issues with components that summarize the issue, describe its background, list the forces influencing it, its future, and how it will impact an organization. This article will discuss the issue briefdocument and its significance to organizations and leaders that potentially will encounter gentrification. The article will demonstrate theissue brief’s advantages to organizations and leadership and how a completed issue brief can assist them in better embracing the future and changes gentrification brings to communities, residents, and businesses.
